OUR BACK GARDEN 2010

May and June

Overall the garden began to fill with colour.

The astrantias did well , with two more varieties added, and hidden among the honeysuckle we discovered a second clematis.

Some time ago we planted a field rose cutting in one of the borders, and promptly forgot about it, so it was a pleasant surprise to find it flowering this year. Malc also bought the rose 'Tequila Sunrise' with its vivid red, orange and yellow petals.

During June the garden seemed full of aquilegias. Many had self-seeded but as we couldn't remember their colours we let them all flower. Since then the seed of the more unusual colours has been collected for new plants next year.

Whilst on one of our walks in Derbyshire we saw some red, orange and yellow varieties so who knows we may have added some of those by next year.
