OUR BACK GARDEN - 2010
January - March
As we were away quite a bit last Autumn we did very little in the garden in the second half of last year, so no report for Autumn 2009. Not much was done in the garden, either, in January, as we had a long spell of snow and ice leaving the garden looking a bit the worse for wear.
The Christmas decorations were left out long past 'twelfth night' as they were frozen to the ground.
The pond had the most weird ice formations, and we've since found the ice must have caused a leak as the level has dropped , so that could mean major work in 2010. The best place for viewing the garden was from indoors

When I think back to February last year , along with the snowdrops, there were lots of crocus and primulas, blossom on the viburnum and even the daffodils were in bud by the end of the month. At the end of February this year snowdrops were in abundance but there was only one crocus , one hellebore bud and one primula in flower - roll on Spring !!
At the beginning of March this year the garden was still lacking in colour, plenty of snowdrops - they seemed to last for ages, a few catkins on the corkscrew hazel, and crocus.

By the end of the month at last more flowers were out, mainly daffodils and hellebores, but at least colour was finally back in the garden.
